We develop most products in-house at our innovation center in Aerzen, featuring 1,500 m² of greenhouses, 40,000 m² of outdoor space, and modern laboratories.

OUR HISTORY

Milestones & Growth

Our Story Begins

The story of the Neudorff Groups begins in 1854 in Königsberg, Prussia. From its inception, it was one of Germany's pioneering companies in the field of plant protection and animal care. Our founder, Wilhelm Neudorff, was a dyer with a passion for chemistry who developed a wide array of products, from bath additives and tinctures to ointments and cosmetics. Even in those early days, one natural product stood out: our Persian Insect Powder, derived from a natural chrysanthemum extract known as pyrethrum. This commitment to natural ingredients continues to this day, as we still use an enhanced form of this very same active ingredient in several of our products.

1854 - 1903

A Commitment to Nature-Friendly Solutions

The company moved to Wuppertal in 1903, where it broadened its portfolio of chemical and pharmaceutical goods. By the mid-1920s, our focus had sharpened to include plant protection, pest control, and animal care. A core principle, even in those early days, was our commitment to working in harmony with nature wherever possible. A new chapter began in 1959 when Rudolf Lohmann acquired the company and relocated it to its current home in Emmerthal. It was here that a whole new line of innovative products was developed and produced in the years that followed.

1903 - 1987

From Local Expert to Global Leader

While we have always proudly served both passionate home gardeners and professional growers, the 2010s marked a new chapter in our journey. We developed a dedicated line of products for professional applications, with a special focus on agriculture. Today, these solutions are trusted by growers worldwide. As a wholly-owned subsidiary, Progema nurtures our international presence, working directly with clients and through long-standing partnerships. Our home for administration and production is in Emmerthal, with a specialized facility in Lüneburg dedicated to our organic fertilizers and slug pellets. Back in Emmerthal, another major facility is focused entirely on our plant protection solutions. Innovation comes to life in our state-of-the-art Innovation Centre in Aerzen. Today, the Neudorff family is made up of over 400 dedicated employees (as of 2025).
